Worsley Delph is the start of 46 miles of tunnels that lead to a network of underground mines which began in the 1750's with the Duke of Bridgewater creating the Bridgewater Canal to transport coal to Manchester.
Bronze Duck Pond for the Bridgewater Canal
Commissioned by Salford City Council as part of a £3.6 million Heritage Lottery funded project, this bronze duck pond was unveiled to the public early 2018. The purpose of this commission was to create an iconic piece that was very much inspired by the heritage of the Bridgewater Canal.
Peter O'Sullevan - Bronze Bust
Shortly before Christmas I was approached by The Jockey Club who where helping to create The Peter O’Sullevan Community Hub at Aintree Racecourse, an onsite community facility designed to focus and teach the community about horse-racing, the Grand National and Jockey Club roots.
John Woods Statue for Leigh Centurions RLFC

Work In Progress
This piece by artist Nick Crowther, which we featured earlier in the year, is finally coming together.The third scale figure has been cast in several sections and is awaiting final welding, finishing and patination.

A Fitting Tribute

Another 'Pub'-lic Art Success
The National Trust commissioned this sign for one of their new pubs, the 'Sticklebarn', in Ambleside. Measuring 600 x 600 mm, this bespoke sign was fabricated in house from both laser cut and forged steel elements. Intentionally left to go rusty, the sign perfectly compliments the white washed stone walls of the public house.
The 'Lock' is now Open
We were commissioned by Great Places Housing Association to create mosaic features for its award winning 'Lock 54' development of 150 homes in Blackburn.The main circular mosaic depicts the heritage of the site, formerly the Higherfield Mill, as well as other local landmarks such as the old Infirmary.
Clinical Excellence
Scatworks was awarded a commission for the new 1.5 pound million Diabetes Centre at the University Hospital Aintree in Liverpool.Working with the architect and staff of the centre, Stephen created a seiries of wall mounted discs which represent the univeral logo for diabetes. The designs feature imagery which make reference to Aintree's Anglo Saxon heritage, diabetes and DNA. Great care was taken to ensure the artwork sympathetically matched other fixtures and fittings within the main foyer to enhance the calming simplicity of this environment.(Below) Stephen on the right is pictured with Paul Fitzpatrick (Director Of Estates) and Dr Susan Benbow (Clinical Director).

Astley Village Improvements - Chorley
Finally, artwork created to improve the environment in Astley Village goes in. These include a 3.5 metre oak totem pole depicting the life cycle of frogs and a 'fern' inspired bench.
